Don't forget to send in your Membership Application.  Are you a member of The United Arc?  Is it time to renew?  Your support as a member makes The United Arc's powerful voice even stronger as we address issues such as education, employment, housing, and safety that are critical to the disability community.  Please join us today.  

There are four levels of membership to consider: Individual, Family, Business, and Community Partner.

The United Arc offers special membership rates for individuals, families, businesses, & community partners which entitles you to a variety of benefits, foremost of which is your connection to The United Arc. Membership is valid for one year on a rolling basis from receipt of your application.

Resources and Support - We will help you connect with your state and national chapter by making you a member with The Arc of the US and The Arc of MA to utilize information and resources available on thearc.org including research, fact sheets, national programs such as Autism NOW: The National Resource and Information Center and the National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability, and public policy information.

Services & Programs - Access a portfolio of services and programs.

Community - Join an active community by accessing our social media channels, attend events hosted by The United Arc and get involved with your state and national chapters.

Advocacy - Voting rights at the Annual Business Meeting.

Recognition - Recognition of your commitment to our work in the Annual Report Membership Roster. You will receive Membership Card for Individuals and Families, membership card and window decal for Businesses and Community Partners.

Susan Jones and Betsy Misch presented at the Arc National conference in Washington DC. Their presentation was entitled, “Innovations in Practice: Supporting Parents Living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

 

Betsy Misch, Program Manager of the Positive Parenting Program in Holyoke, receives the Dr. Tymchuk Award.

Dr. Tymchuk Award, is to honor individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their work in supporting parents with intellectual disabilities and other learning difficulties.



Betsy for the past two years has been the Program Manager for The United Arc's Positive Parenting Program. She oversees the day to day operation of one of the agencies satellite offices in Holyoke MA.  She supervises 7 staff and oversee and management' services for 50 + parents through referrals from 4 different Department of Children and Families offices. Through eer work with each of the offices she has increased the awareness of social workers of the needs of families headed by a parent with an intellectual disabilities or other learning difficulties.  Betsy's role is changed over the years. She is now in a management role and is known throughout her service area as a strong champion for parents and families. She is emerging as a leader in the state of MA when working with parents with disabilities. She has provided training to DCF, UMASS, The Arc of the U.S. and The Association for Successful Parenting.
