The United Arc November 2018 Newsletter

Greetings!

As the seasons change and we look forward to sharing the warmth of the holidays with family and friends, we are pleased to announce that The United Arc will once again partner with The Stone Soup Café and All Souls Church in Greenfield to host an inclusive community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 22, 2018.

November also brings us the opportunity to REV UP - Register, Educate, Vote - Use Your Power - on November 6 the state elections will be held.  We encourage you to exercise your right to vote.

It is with sadness for us and happiness for her, that we say farewell to Mary Lunny as she retires.  We also are pleased to welcome a new member to our team.  Kristina Tams joins us as our new Development and Events Coordinator.

The United Arc
Family Support Centers

The Franklin County and North Quabbin Family Support Centers hosted their biannual Individual Education Plan (IEP) clinics at both of our centers this month. Parents/Caregivers had the opportunity to sit down with highly qualified educational advocates free of charge from the Federation for Children with Special Needs. Attendees were grateful to learn more about their child’s IEP process and how to support his/her specific needs. Families are looking forward to the continued collaboration offered by Federation for Children with Special Needs’ call center. If you are interested in attending upcoming clinics/workshops please contact your Family Support Specialist.

Mary Lunny's farewell luncheon

On November 1, 2018, The United Arc said farewell to Mary Lunny. We did so with sadness in our hearts but joy for her. Mary has been part of The United Arc team for over 10 years. She has been a leader in The Family Support program and served families from The Franklin and North Quabbin Family Support Centers. Upon her retirement, she will be moving to Virginia to enjoy the ocean and warmer weather! We wish her the very best.

Thank you Mary for your work here at The United Arc!

-The United Arc Team

Mary Lunny says farewell to all

I will sadly miss working with all the families, individuals and fellow staff members of The United Arc.  I also wish to thank everyone for their lovely comments and well wishes.  The special luncheons in the North Quabbin and the Turners Falls offices meant a lot to me.  I will enjoy the beautiful hour glass that Lynne picked out and it will serve as a reminder of all the great hours I have spent working here.  A special thanks to Sue Jones and everyone else who helped her with these events.

Everyone has a job to do and we have all done it as well as we can, but I have done mine with a great joy in my heart.

Thank you all for the lovely farewell and I am looking forward to a warmer and bright future.  Please take care of yourselves and The United Arc.

-Mary Lunny

Please welcome our new

Development & Events Coordinator

Kristina Tams

Kristina Tams joined The United Arc on October 22nd as the new Development and Events Coordinator. Kristina comes to us with a myriad of work and educational experience. Most recently, she worked as the Executive Communications Coordinator for a local non-profit and received a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Brandeis University. In her spare time, you can find Kristina running with her dogs in a stroller, hiking, and practicing aerial fabric circus tricks. Kristina is thrilled to be a member of this dynamic team and cannot wait to familiarize herself with this wonderful organization—the people we serve, our staff, and the diligent work we do.
